Wedding & Eternity Ring Designs

A wedding ring is given at the wedding ceremony itself — traditionally a plain band, though many couples now choose diamond-set or shaped designs to sit alongside the engagement ring. An eternity ring is given later, often to mark a significant anniversary (commonly the tenth or twenty-fifth) or the birth of a child, and is set with a continuous line of diamonds or gemstones around the band, symbolising enduring love.

An anniversary ring marks a milestone in a marriage — often the tenth, twentieth or twenty-fifth year. In practice the terms anniversary ring and eternity ring overlap: many anniversary rings are eternity or half-eternity designs, though some couples prefer a dress ring or a diamond upgrade instead. There is no fixed rule, and we will help you choose something that suits the occasion and the wearer.

A full eternity ring is set with diamonds all the way around the band. It is the most striking option, but it cannot be resized later and the stones underneath the finger can wear over time. A half eternity has diamonds across the top only, and a three-quarter sits between the two. Both can usually be resized and are more practical for everyday wear. Most of our clients choose half or three-quarter for a ring they will wear daily.

Most men choose between 5mm and 7mm. A 7mm band reads as substantial without being heavy, and suits most hand sizes. Wider 8mm bands make more of a statement and work well on larger hands, while 4mm to 5mm suits those who prefer something understated or who work with their hands. We will let you try several widths in person — it is very difficult to judge from a photograph alone.

Yes. Sapphires, rubies and emeralds all work beautifully channel-set alongside diamonds, and can be chosen to match a birthstone, an engagement ring centre stone, or simply a colour you love. Sapphire and ruby are the hardest of the coloured stones and stand up best to daily wear. Emerald is softer and more included, so we would usually suggest it for a ring worn less often. We will talk you through the practical differences before you commit.

The most popular choices are 18ct yellow, white, or rose gold, and platinum. Platinum is the most durable and naturally white — it does not need replating like white gold and is hypoallergenic. 18ct gold offers a beautiful warm or white tone depending on the alloy. We will talk through the differences in person and help you pick what suits your lifestyle, your skin tone, and the engagement ring it will sit beside.

Most wedding and eternity rings take two to three weeks from confirmation of design to delivery. More complex designs, gemstone-set bands, or unusually wide or narrow profiles may take longer. If you have a specific wedding date, let us know early and we will work backwards from there to make sure everything is ready in time.

Yes, absolutely — this is one of the most common requests we handle. Bring your engagement ring in (or send us clear photos and measurements if you cannot visit in person) and we will design a wedding band that sits perfectly alongside it, whether that means a curved or shaped band, matching metal and finish, or a complementary diamond setting.

The most accurate way is to visit our Sydney CBD studio, where we can size you in person using a professional ring sizer. If you cannot visit, your local jeweller can size you for free, or we can post out a sizer. We always recommend being sized at the end of the day when fingers are slightly fuller, and avoiding very cold or very hot weather, as finger size can fluctuate noticeably.

Plain gold and platinum bands can usually be resized up or down by one or two sizes without issue. Eternity rings set with diamonds all the way around cannot be resized, which is why getting the size right at the outset matters — we will take extra care with your sizing. Half-eternity rings (with diamonds across the top only) can generally be resized with care.
